A hundred men.... coming our way
what will happen
shiny pointy things in their hands
i do not like
scary scary scary
what are they doing??
they are coming closer
thieves i say thieves
what is that strange language
their lips are moving but all i hear is blah blah blah
what is this
they are talking to me
in their unusual tongue
what is this
they are handing me a thing
that is fat
and is full of
smooth flimsy things
with strange words on them
they are
still trying to talk to me
what is this
they are trying to take it back from me
i will slap them
ya!!
uh oh now they
look mad
he has a fighting face on
EVERYONE FIGHT!!
I yell
what are they doing
my army is piling up on each other
they are killing each other
HOW STUPID!
we lost
the end

Guns germs and steel (chpt 1)
Once upon a time long long ago there was a princess named Princess Monkey. Her mother was ruler of all the neanderthals. Princess Monkey was so beutiful that all the neanderthal guys wanted to marry her. So Queen Monkey decided that they should have a contest to see who would marry her daughter. Everyone was so excited for the contest. Then on the day of the drawing the old neanderthal grandpa won and Princess Monkey hated it. And so did everyone else, so war broke out in neanderthal land everyone killed everyone because they all wanted to marry Princess Monkey. Then after everyone killed everyone the Princess Monkey cried because now she could not get married. But then a strange monkey was walking to her. "Who are you?" she asked. And the monkey replied, "I am Prince Cromagnon." And they lived happily ever after and made new cromagnons!

Vocab words

in this picture the mouse is trying to be discreet so the cat wont find it. It is being subtle.

this picture shows this persons forte because obviously it is because its there job. Forte means a specialty or best skill.

i chose this picture for subtle because i think this plant is very subtle because it is delicate and it is almost transparent.

i chose this picture for the word adverse because toxic stuff is harmful to you and that is one of the meanings of adverse.
Breaking News
\We now interrupt this television show for a special news report. About ten minutes ago a gigantic painting crash landed on 1842 Littleton Street in front of Starbucks coffee."I was serving coffee to the customers," says starbucks employee, Sally Duke,"and this giant thing just falls from the sky outta nowhere and it hit one of our regulars....Jeremy Smith. He was a good friend of mine." Yes it is true that local Jeremy Smith who is also a regular at this particular starbucks was stabbed by this giant painting. This tragic accident was unfortunately fatal. Another local was seriously injured. He just missed the same fate as Jeremy by about an inch and will be taken to the hospital. We hope best wishes to him. Detectives are on the case, investigating where this giant painting came from. This is Cameron Coats reporting to you live from 1842 Littleton Street.
Thief and a horse

"Run faster!" The theif yelled to his horse. "They are gaining on us!" The thief had just robbed a marketplace and was running for his life from the police. "Come on guys we have almost got him." The thief could hear them yelling right behind him. "Faster, faster!" Panic was rising in him. He had never been this close to being caught. "Now we gotcha."

Should I stay or should I go?
One day, you wake up in hospital. In the nearby bed lies a world famous violinist who is connected to you with various tubes and machines.
To your horror, you discover that you have been kidnapped by the Music Appreciation Society. Aware of the maestro’s impending death, they hooked you up to the violinist.
If you stay in the hospital bed, connected to the violinist, he will be totally cured in nine months. You are unlikely to suffer harm. No one else can save him. Do you have an obligation to stay connected?
I would stay because if i were that violinist i would want me to stay. Ive still got my whole life ahead of me and he dosen"t if i leave. Nine months isnt going to change much. I would have to be payed though because they took me without asking. If i left i would never be able to forgive myself. I dont think it would be considered murder, but it would feel like it. I might be bored sometimes but i would feel good about myself. Most of what i do all day is talk on the phone, go on the computer, and watching TV. I would miss going outside and stuff.

Book!

Okay so the book im doing is The Outsiders. I just loved this book after i read the first chapter. The Outsiders was actually a book we had to read for class in eighth grade and i really enjoyed it.I've actually read this book a couple times. Im not exactly sure what exactly i liked about it so much. I dont know if it was S.E Hintons way of writing that drew me in or how the book just relates to everyone or its teriffic story is just what made me love it so much. Its even better for teenagers because its about teenagers and it was written by a teenager. The book made me realize that we are all outsiders at one point or another. This book is definitely something you should read!

Boxes!!

This is more of a dialogue than a story. You can make up on your own who’s saying what. I left that up to you. It’s about these five businessmen who are overworked and they go to work on this Monday morning and are just dreading the thought of work. You’ll see how it works into the picture.
Hope you like it!
“Hey Bill”
“Hey Dwayne”
“How’s it going?”
“Oh same old same old”
“Yes that’s how it is these days”
“Oh hey there Fred”
“Hi there”
“Well, its nine o’clock, better check in.”
“Yes, I guess so”
“Don’t want the old, cranky, boss to yell at us again”
“Ha-ha you’re right”
“Sometimes I wish we could get a break though”
“Yeah, that would be nice.”
“Oh hey there’s Dennis.”
“Hey Dennis, need some help with those boxes?”
“Yeah, boss just wanted me to take these outside.”
“Here let me get that for you.”
“Thanks, so what did you guys do this weekend?”
“Eh, not much just watching football”
“I didn’t get a chance, those kids are a handful”
“Tell me about it…”
“Yeah I remember when I was a kid I used to play in boxes like these.”
“Sometimes I’d just give anything to be a kid again.”
“Join the club.”
“I just want to climb into this box and forget all about work.”
“Yep.”
“Yep.”
“Wow, it is so windy today.”
“Hey, it’s Jim and Garret
“Hey guys what have you brought us?”
“Oh just decided to get coffee for everyone.”
“Thanks guys”
“No problem”
“So what are you guys doing out here?”
“Oh just reminiscing on our childhood.”
“Yeah…”
“Hey Garret what are you doing?”
“I dunno, haven’t you ever wanted to put a box on your head?”
“Jim? Oh you guys… C’mon we got to get to work.”
“Oh Dennis, C’mon don’t you just want to have a little fun?”
“Well, I just don’t want to get fired!”
“You won’t get fired.”
“C’mon Dennis.”
“C’mon”
“Okay, but I’m blaming you guys if we get caught!”

Strangers in the Subway
I took this picture and made a story of how i thought this person was thinking, feeling, and some back ground info just by looking at them. This picture is one from a series of pictures by Bill Sullivans Turnstile Photography.

I chose the picture of the guy in the middle with a briefcase.
Growing up, Sabastian, had very few friends and no one seemed to like him. They all thought of him as kind of creepy looking and very intimidating. In preschool he would play in the sandbox alone. Middle school, he would eat lunch alone. High
school, he never had a project partner. Many people could not live with being teased every day and having no one to talk to, but Sebastian was used to it and began to like being alone. Sebastian always knew he wanted to be a lawyer when he grew up. He went to college to get his degree and soon set out into the world to his new career. He Hoped to make a difference in the world and pursue his dream. Now Sebastian sits in a small cubicle, drinking McDonalds coffee, punching numbers and letters into a very slow, old computer, wondering what went wrong in his career and why some guy took a picture of him at the subway that morning.

Creative character study- The Library of Dust
This is a story about The Library of Dust which was found in an madhouse in Salem, Oregon. The pictures are the cans of the cremated people that died there. My story is my interpretation of why i thought the personalities of these people based on the designs on the cans. The last person i write about, Drew Carter, is actually one of my teachers from last year. He was a surfer and he did have an imaginary friend named Harold who wore red and pink pants. My whole class would agree that Mr.Carter was a litle crazy, but thats what we loved about him.
Well i hope you enjoy!!!
“Hello inspector. Please, come in.”
The inspector walked into a stone hall with bare stone walls. It was quite chilly inside the hospital and the atmosphere was very uninviting. He was wearing a nice black suit and a top hat with shiny leather shoes. He looked quite out of place.
“Thank you. Now today, as you might already know, I will be inspecting Oregon State Hospital to make sure that all is right and that it is a safe place for the patients.”
“Well right this way then.”
“First I will ask you how long you have worked here?”
“Oh, I’ve worked here since it opened, which was five years ago”
“So this facility is fairly new?”
“Yes”
“Can you first show me where all the patients are?”
“Of course, just around the corner here is the place where they all get to interact so they are not lonely all the time. It is supervised at all times.”
“Can you tell me a little about some of the patients?”

“Sure, this here is Jeremy Garston. He is one of our first patients. He has Apert Syndrome. He has many mutinous characteristics as you can see. He can’t talk because his jaw is stuck together and he can’t open his mouth. His toes and fingers are stuck together. And as you can also see he has extremely bad acne. He suffers from various heart defects so its good that he stays here with us.
“But he doesn’t act strangely”
“Yes but his parents didn’t want him so they dropped him off here and he isn’t …..normal”

“Okay how about that woman over there”
“Oh that’s Martha Reynolds, she has an obsessive compulsive disorder.
“What is that exactly?”
“Well I think of it as a game that you are stuck in and you have to play by the rules your whole life unless you get special help which is why she is here. But unfortunately she has a very serious case. She has silly rules like she can’t look at the doors or she can’t touch anything unless someone has touched it first.
“That dosent seem that bad”
“You don’t understand she has to live by these rules. She can’t live without not looking at a door her whole life. They seem like minor things, but they come as a big disadvantage.
“I see. Now who is that over there he seems to be talking to himself”

“Oh he is Drew Carter he has schizophrenia. He has an imaginary friend named Harold. He always tells us that Harold always wears his red pants, but sometimes when they get dirty he has to wear his pink ones. He is in a totally different world when he is with Harold.
“How did he get this way?”
“He was in a surfing accident and broke his jaw. That’s why sometimes you can’t understand what he is saying”
“Well I think I’ve gotten a good enough view of the kinds of people that live here. Could you please show me the examining room.”
“Yes, right this way please.”
Well i hope you enjoy!!!

My Poem ( it dosent have a name yet)
Why do we have to be like everyone else?
To fit in with the rest.
To change how we look just to be...
Cool, popular, to have the same hairstyles and clothes.
We live in a conformist society.
To fit in with the rest.
To change how we look just to be...
Cool, popular, to have the same hairstyles and clothes.
We live in a conformist society.

Dear Texas Government,
I think that what you do during your voting process is very bad!!!Its not fair that everyone else has to vote once and you dont.I dont know if my government does that, but if they dont you are giving them a bad example. You should follow your own rules or dont make them. Just because you have a bit more power than us dosent mean you should take it for granted and vote more than once.

Man/ Beast...Whats the difference?
I find this a very difficult subject to write about because in many ways we actually are the same. But there is definitely a difference if you think about it. I dont think monkeys are much considered beasts but they are a very intellegent species. Sometimes i think that maybe if we gave monkeys the tools that we use every day they would definitely be able to live like us and with us. There are even monkeys i have read about that actually use sign language to communicate with humans. A definition of beast in the dictionary is something that walks on all fours and is mean.(wow isnt that a great recapitulation of the definition) Well thats all i have to say for today. buhbye now!!

Vocab. Words

accord- i chose this picture because it is a honda accord. they named it this because i suppose this car is supposed to be in harmony with the driver. accord means to work together, to be in harmony.

incognito- i chose this picture because it looks like the dog is trying to blend in with humans because he is wearing the glasses. incognito means to blend in to keep identity hidden. obviously this dog didnt do a good job.
